As with the African and Super African goose, the Brown Chinese goose originates in China from the wild Asiatic Swan goose. The Brown Chinese is the smallest breed of goose we have. They are light and elegant. It is interesting, however, that they seem to have the most pronounced knob on their head of any African or Chinese geese. Their coloring is similar to the African and Super African geese. For more information on the Chinese geese, please read the White Chinese Geese page.

July 17, 2022 | Brown chinese

I got my three brown Chinese geese the first of June they are doing very well, growing fast, and friendly. Very happy

April 9, 2023 | Could Not Be Happier

Received 5 Brown Chinese goslings 3/29/23. They were healthy, lively and talkative at pickup. They are growing like weeds and run rather than walk around the pen. Will definitely be making more orders of other breeds.

March 5, 2024 | My Gander and Flock Guardian

I received my Brown Chinese Goose in May of last year. He is a beautiful bird IMHO and he has grown quickly and remains healthy. He has bonded with most if not all of my other 8 ducks (Pekin, Welsh Harlequins, and a Black Swedish) and my 1 female African Goose. He definitely seems to look after the entire flock and is a great little alert to potential danger or anything he perceives as a possible threat. He's definitely on the noisy side which I expected and welcome. He comes to me when I enter the pen, but I suspect that it's flock defense more so than love for me at this point. I can pet him a little and he will tolerate being picked up, but he's hesitant to eat from my hand, so I can tell that he's not entirely comfortable with me at this point....or it could be adolescence. We'll see. He has attacked me a few times as well, which again I am ok with and understand. That's part of the reason he's with us. No big deal for me and it just leads to quiet time with him and I and after I put him back down, he's usually settled in and calm after he realizes I'm the alpha, but pose no threat. Overall, he's handsome, a great forager and a pretty good boy. I've gotten all my bird from Metzer and have had zero problems with regards to sickness or fatalities. Great experience with all and just ordered 2 Silver Appleyard Ducks and an Embden Goose to grow my flock. P.S. As of now, my birds are strictly pets although we have discovered that ducks eggs are delicious scrambled, in an omelette or in baked goods.
