Duck, Goose & Chicken Hatchery

Methods of Shipping Ducks, Geese, & Chicks

US Mail

Our shipments go through the US Post Office. Birds are hatched on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays and they are delivered to our local post office for mailing the same day they are hatched. Arrival is typically 2-3 days after they are shipped. The Post Office will then phone the number you provided us at time of placing the order. It is better for you to pick them up versus waiting for them to deliver the birds as the sooner the birds drink water, the better.

Priority vs. Express Mail

Unless you request Express Mail and pay the surcharge when you ordered, we send all birds priority. Express has not proven to be any quicker than Priority, though there is more detailed tracking information after shipment.

Tracking Numbers

Typically the birds are not scanned throughout their trip but you can use the postal website to see where they have last been scanned. Often times they will only scan your package upon acceptance the day we mail and when you receive them at your post office. So if your package has San Jose, CA as the last entry in the USPS tracking system, it does not mean they are still sitting in San Jose. It just means this is the last place they were scanned. You can also choose to have text message updates sent to your cell phone.
