Recommended Veterinarians

We have collected the names of avian veterinarians throughout the United States and Canada.

The first column indicates those veterinarians that are a member of the ABVP (American Board of Veterinary Practitioners). Veterinarians interested in being certified by the ABVP go through an extensive certification process that requires submission of original avian case reports for evaluation and, following acceptable submission, successful passing of the Certification Exam especially designed for avian species. To remain active, ABVP-certified veterinarians must re-certify every 10 years through credit accumulation (submission of new case reports, continuing education credits, publications, lectures, etc) or by examination.

Some veterinarians were recommended by people like you. You had a problem and these veterinarians helped you professionally, compassionately and at a reasonable price. These are indicated in the second column. If you would like to add your local vet, with whom you have confidence in their expertise and experience, please send us their name, city, state and phone number. We will include them in this list.

There is also an organization called the AVA (Avian Veterinarians Association), which is comprised of veterinarians that have an interest in birds. The Association of Avian Veterinarians is a membership organization. Any veterinarian can join by paying the joining fee/membership dues.
