There are several things that differentiate us from other hatcheries. We hatch Pekin ducklings year around and hatch many of the other duck breeds through the fall - after most other hatcheries have stopped hatching. We can sex the ducklings and goslings and identify your choice of sexes for only $1.15each. And most importantly, we guarantee your satisfaction. Metzer Farms is located in the Salinas Valley, which is an intense vegetable growing area (the Salad Bowl of the Nation) about 100 miles south of San Francisco. The farm and hatchery is about 20 miles from the Pacific Ocean and the Monterey Peninsula, which includes the towns of Monterey and Carmel (the AT&T ProAm Golf Tournament). The weather is very mild with the average highs in the summer being 75 degrees and the lows in the winter averaging 40 degrees in January. Rainfall averages 12.5 inches per year with the majority fall from December through March. It is an ideal climate for waterfowl which appreciate cool weather. Our main products are day old ducklings and goslings. They are produced for individual hobbyists, feed stores and commercial meat and egg producers. We have over 25 breeds of ducks, geese, guineas, pheasants and wild turkeys. Ducklings are hatched year around with increased sales during the spring months. Other products sold are duck hatching eggs, blown eggs for decorators, balut (partially incubated duck eggs), salted duck eggs, fresh duck eggs and grown Mallards for dog trials and hunting preserves. We have shipped to every state in the nation and other countries such as Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Thailand, Greece, Korea, the Dominican Republic, the Philippines, Guatemala, the United Arab Emeritus, Turkey, Nicaragua and Trinidad. If you are looking for an excellent egg laying duck, whether it be for your own familys egg needs or for commercial production, we recommend you seriously consider our Golden 300 Hybrid or White Layer. Since we opened in 1978 we have been selling duck egg products for eating. We were never pleased with the production of the pure Khaki Campbell duck, though it was supposed to be the best at egg production. So, utilizing some Khaki Campbell genes, we produced the Golden 300 Hybrid and now recommend it to anyone needing efficient, dependable and high egg producing ducks. Much of our growth has occurred since 1988 when we imported our first Pekin parent breeder hatching eggs from Denmark. We then began hatching ducklings for commercial growers and have been expanding ever since. You can see from our pricelist the various strains of Pekin ducks we offer. We import eggs at least four times a year to continually update our own breeding and sell parent breeders to commercial meat producers. We are probably the only hatchery in North America that periodically
imports Pekin breeding stock from Grimaud
