Daffy Duck, of Warner Brothers fame, is probably a Black Swedish - the only difference is that Daffy has white on his neck and a Black Swedish has white on its chest.

They are a hardy, strong duck with good foraging ability. The advantage of the Black Swedish over the Blue Swedish is that the Black Swedish breed true. If you cross a Black Swedish with a Black Swedish, all the progeny will be Black Swedish. As with the Blue Swedish, the Black Swedish was developed in the Pomerania area of Europe. At the time it was part of the Swedish Kingdom but is now the area of northeast Germany and northwest Poland. They were first imported into the USA in the late 1800s.

By far our sweetest duck in the flock. This could be because she belongs to my six year old daughter and gets lots of handling. She waits patiently for treats and will hang out and let you pet her until she gets more.

Sweet and calm. Cute as a button. She likes to be held and talked to. She nibbles on my lips and then just holds on. She is 4 days old and very personable.

My girl came healthy and arrived 3 days after I ordered! They handled her with care during shipment and she looks healthy as could be.

I bought 3 in July 2022 and they arrived within 48 hours of hatching, all 3 in good condition, healthy and active. I kept them in a brooder for 6 days and then moved them to an outdoor coop with supplemental heat at night(it was summer, so nice and warm during the day). They now free range my backyard during the day and they're super fun to watch and hang out with. They are reasonably friendly and will come over and nibble on my clothes. Overall, couldn't be happier with Metzer's ducks and their health/temperament

Daisy arrived in the mail June 29th (my son's birthday). He selected her based on the coloring. Little did we know, she would have a breathtaking green/blue sheen in the sunshine. She is a good forager and LOVES the water, even when it is freezing outside. She is very hardly. With a little patience and some treats, she has come around to being handled and even enjoys sitting on my son's lap. She isn't laying yet but looking forward to reporting back on egg production. i ordered a mix of ducklings one being a Black swedish they are all well healthy active and wonderful! would def order from metzer farms again if i ever need more ducklings!

My girls aren't yet old enough to comment on their quality as layers, but I will say the black swedish are for sure the most personable ducks out of any of the breeds I have now or have had before! They're always the first to come up for a visit. Would definitely recommend this breed to anyone looking for some personality.

Got two girls this week and already I'm in love. Seems a bit shy but happy when I talk to them. All in all, I'd order again.
