All our Pekin breeders are purchased from Grimaud Freres, a French poultry breeding company. Their first breeding efforts were with Muscovy and Mule ducks but quickly expanded to Pekin ducks, rabbits, geese, pigeons, turkeys and chickens. The strain of Pekin ducks we use is the Grimaud Hybrid Pekin, Strain 53. This is a fast growing, feed efficient duck. It is of 100% Pekin blood. It is called a hybrid as we cross males from their Line 50 with the females from their Line 30 to produce the commercial duckling we sell. The Line 30 ducks are a good sized bird and lay a high number of fertile eggs. The Line 50 ducks are a very large duck with outstanding meat characteristics. We sell from 5,000 to 12,000 ducklings per week of this strain for meat production.

December 17, 2020 | Best experience ever!

These babies were shipped so safely, so well taken care of every second before arriving in my hands and changed my life. I'm so in love and felt so good about Metzer farms because of this experience. The babies were completely safe and healthy and imprinted when they saw me, making for the best needy duckies ever. I'm dying to get more or a goose but don't want my ducks to be nervous about a new friend.

February 6, 2021 | Great layers

These birds are laying machines, and also calm and easy to handle. Laid at similar rate to chickens outside on pasture, kept going all the way through fall to their time off in late December January.

September 30, 2021 | Very Happy Owners!

We ordered 1 Welsh Harlequin and 1 Grimaud Hybrid Pekin. They arrived this morning and are alert, active and healthy. The packaging was very secure and had everything the ducklings needed during shipping. We are very happy with the quality of the birds so far and I would definitely order from Metzer again.

December 3, 2021 | Best ducks ever!

We purchased 2 Pekin ducks, and they have both been so wonderful to have! They arrived safe and sound, and have been thriving ever since!

January 4, 2022 | Pekin ducklings

We ordered 2 ducklings. They arrived on schedule. After we picked them up and got home 1 of the ducklings didn't look well. She was not as active as the other. We got them set up in a cage with food, water and heat lamp. A few hours later I noticed that one of the ducklings was biting on the others wings and drew blood. So we separated the 2 by putting a divider in the cage. The next morning the smaller ducklings was very weak and lathargic. I offer her food and water kept her warm. She died a few hours later. The other duckling is doing great and growing fast. She has already imprinted on me. Follows me around everywhere and when shes in her cage she sees me and gets excited. Very pleased with her. We are expecting more next week. We already have adult ducks just wanted to add to our family. It was so sad that we lost one.
