Welcome to Metzer Farms. We are a family-owned farm and hatchery that has been in business since 1972. We control all aspects of nutrition, breeding, selection, incubation, and hatching to ensure you the highest quality of day-old birds.
We specialize in waterfowl, hatching 19 breeds of ducks (Pekin, Jumbo Pekin, Mallard, Rouen, Khaki Campbell, Blue Swedish, Black Swedish, Buff, Cayuga, Welsh Harlequin, White Crested, Fawn & White Runner, Black Runner, Blue Runner, Chocolate Runner, Saxony, Silver Appleyard, Golden 300 Hybrid, and White Layer) and 16 breeds of geese (Embden, Toulouse, Buff Toulouse, White Chinese, Brown Chinese, Pilgrim, Buff, Tufted Buff, African, Super African, French Toulouse, Large Dewlap Toulouse, Sebastopol, Roman Tufted, Classic Roman, Tufted Toulouse). We also hatch French Pearl Guineas and Ringneck Pheasants,
as well as three strains of meat chickens (Cornish Cross, Rolin S, and Big Sur).
It is easy for you to enjoy the thrill of raising a baby duckling or gosling into adulthood. Our minimum order quantity is two ducklings or goslings so you do not have to raise more birds than you want. We also hatch ducks year round. Whereas most hatcheries stop hatching in June or July, we hatch Pekin and Mallard year round and our other breeds of ducks from February through early December. The season for the geese, guineas, and pheasants is in the spring and early summer. Our chickens are hatched year round for those of you wanting to grow chickens commercially for your local restaurants or farmers' markets.
This is my first year raising waterfowl and the birds seem to be off to a roaring start. I'm certainly taken with goslings...they seem to be such characters!
If my husband lets me sneak more into our new flock I'll order again and again from Metzer. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Great prices too for the service you offer.
I witnessed a raven sitting on a fence post thinking hard about what to do. Gander was forceful and negative and the raven left. Hooray!!
The girls have arrived to their new Texas home safe and sound. They are beautiful and appear to be healthy and strong. Thank you!
I received my three little ducklings Wednesday and they were in perfect condition and in great health. I would recommend you to anyone planning on getting baby birds. Again thank you for our little Buttercup, Coco and Gypsy.
I recently ordered duck eggs from your company and was a little worried. Rest assured you went above and beyond my expectations! I ordered 16 assorted duck eggs. Of those 16, 10 hatched.
Thank you so much for the great sale and of course the great quality of your birds. My Pekins arrived in 2 days peepy, and perfectly healthy.
Despite - 17* temps, my ducks arrived in perfect shape! I'm thankful for the heat pack and grogel you packed them with, and everyone was eating, drinking, and snacking within minutes of being unpacked.
After having some trouble with the health of previously bought ducks from a different farm, we are so happy to have found such quality in your farm.
My beautiful Embden name Borris and Henrietta, they are so loving and talkative.... school time they were there to get the babies off the bus. They lay down near you while your outside. I have conversations with my geese. They talk to me all the time. I love them so much.
I wrote a while back about the 7 eggs I got from you that were all fertile. Well 6 of the 7 hatched (woot woot!) They are all healthy and strong at 2 days old. Thank you so much!
Wanted to say how happy I am with you all. The baby ducks got here safe and all ok. I want to know how I can write a feed back for you guys. Thanks
Well John, you won me over. I've had my Golden 300 Hybrids since April and am in love with them. For a while, all 19 ducks were laying an egg a day. With the shorter days, I'm down to 13-15 eggs per day without any extra lighting.
After a little panicking, I got a call on day 3 that my babies were here! I was expecting some losses...but when I peeled back the lid..I had 10 unhappy (who wouldn't be after that trip) but healthy ducklings squinting into the light! We got home and they got settled into their brooder, started drinking right away and are running around, happy to be done with their travels!
I heard of Metzer Farms through a podcast of a couple years ago. Next year we are thinking of adding geese to the farm! We appreciate the work of Metzer Farms!
