The Jumbo Pekin is our largest strain of Pekin. Commercial Pekin ducks are produced by crossing a male from a large, meaty strain of Pekin with a female Pekin from a medium sized, highly fertile good egg producing strain. With this cross you get a large number of ducklings from the female that grow into good sized birds because of the size of the male. The Jumbo Pekin ducklings are from a pure male line.

They are probably the largest Pekin you can get. For exhibition they are excellent for Meat Pens but do not have the special conformation necessary for show Pekins. They have been bred for size and meat production, not the specialized standards of show Pekins. Please note our breeders do not look particularly large as they have been on a diet most of their life prior to egg production. By keeping them slim and trim we are able to increase egg production by at least 40% and fertility by 10%. If they are not kept on a diet, the males reach at least 11 pounds and the females 9.5 pounds in three months.
We ordered one Jumbo Pekin hen to ship with our small gosling order. Since day one, she began to entertain us with her antics. She is now the undisputed queen of the coop!
I've ordered from Metzer farms several times in the past. It's always an "Egg-Citing" day to pick up our babies from the post office. Our Postmaster loves doing the "Alive and Well" check with us! All of Metzer Farms ducklings have thrived with us.
These are the most beautiful ducks. We have them as pets. We have had them for one year and 2 months, we just ordered 2 more females since the male is constantly mounting the one female. If you are keeping these beautiful ducks as pets, buy one male and 3 females. The females start laying eggs around 6-8 months old, she lays eggs daily. We bought a 4 x 6 shed for their coop. We use wood shavings and we use the layering method. They love their coop and feel safe at night. They bring joy to everyone in the neighborhood. I highly recommend these beautiful ducks.
4 weeks later, they seem happy and healthy and they get along with the other ducklings and goslings. They follow me around the BIG back yard wherever I go.
One year later and still my favorite, quickly went from meat/egger to the house pet. Very sweet and loves being around people. Her and a Silver Appleyard we got at the same time spend all day foraging and swimming and tail wagging. Got them some floating food and crumble stuff from Tractor Supply with some grub terra treats and they run around happy. If I sit in their area, the peking will come sit next to me and ocassionally fall asleep(I put them beside my bed when they were too small to be outside). When I get more land I will definately get more from Metzer.
I absolutely love my girls, this is my second time ordering from this company. I have a variety of all ducks but the pekins seem to be my favorite. They are healthy and happy. I had one mishap my first order where a duckling passed away an hour after arriving (these things Happen) but they sent me a new duck (with a free new duck because it needed a shipping buddy) absolutely amazing! Forever recommending
They arrived so quickly and all are healthy. Thank you!
Gus arrived today and he is LIVELY. I was worried about getting the ducklings shipped in the cold weather but they're thriving. Gus was the male pekin and I ordered 3 khaki campbell females. I did however not notice any banding on the khaki Campbell's when they arrived so I'm praying that they were actually sexed.
These have been by far the best jumbo Pekin I've ever purchased, they grown very well and are very nice quality!!
