Mallard Ducks

All domestically hatched Mallard ducklings are required to be identified by US Fish and Wildlife. Our method is to remove a back toe when they hatch. This is an acceptable method by the US Fish and Wildlife and you do not need to do any other marking of our Mallards at any time. This is to show, if you were ever inspected, that the birds were domestically hatched and not taken out of a local marsh.

I really like my little mallard drake from Metzer. I'm sure he is able to fly, but has never left the paddock where the rest of the flock is bound by their massive weight.

One baby duck died within hours of arrival. I know that is the risk of shipping live animals, but it was still hard. The other is healthy and whistling, so I'm happy about that.

The expected delivery date was way farther then when they actually came. I am in Oregon and the ducks came on the third day after the delivery email. Ordered three, one was deceased but they are very responsive and friendly. Worth the time and money.

We bought 4 ducklings I have 3 kids and everything I read said to get an extra. So thankful I did cause wishing the 3rd day the runt died. My kids were so sad but was a great lesson learned. Unfortunately I got sick right before she arrived so I was not able to spend as much time with her as I wanted to, but with some "forced love" she is quickly becoming more friendly each day. I ordered 6 and all came healthy, thank you. However, 2 weeks later a snake got into the pen and ate 4 before i was able to kill it. Oh well, Ill order more this spring.

We received four mallard ducks about 5 weeks ago and they are growing so well! They live outside by the pond from about 6am - 7pm and then they put themselves to bed in the hut at night- which I lock to keep predators away. One has a little limp but it's been over a week now and she seems better and keeping up with her siblings.
