Rouens are probably the second most popular breed in North America. They are very beautiful and closely resemble wild Mallards in coloration. The original breed was developed in the Normandy area of France and was given the name Rouen after the city of Rouen. They are second to only Pekins and Muscovy in size and are said to have the most flavorful meat. We have sold our Rouens in the past to growers that have a very specialized meat market. The Rouen is very calm and has a fairly lean carcass.

Some people call Rouens Mallards but that is incorrect as Mallards fly quite easily and Rouens do not. A Rouen is at least three times the weight of a Mallard.

There are two types of Rouen, the show type and the non-show type. We have the non-show type Rouen ducks. The non-show Rouens are good foragers and can produce fine quantities of fertile eggs. The show type Rouens were developed in England and are larger and have a deep keel (a fold of skin that runs from the base of their neck down their abdomen that almost drags on the ground). In addition, the show type Rouen do not lay nearly as many eggs and are less active and fertile.

Manon P. | Beautiful

She is so beautiful. Shes brown with different shades, with blue at the end of her wing ends. Shes alot of fun to watch play in the mud. She stomps thru the mud like a kid stomps his feet in the mud.

Kevin S. | Amazing Service - Superior Ducks

They are so active and friendly. They shipped quickly and safely with a very well put together package. Nothing but high praise for these ones.

Katelyn G. | Love my Rouens

I got two Rouens in March and they are awesome. They are very friendly and laid back. They are the happiest birds in my flock. They never complain and are happy to lead the others to new places.

Joey G. | Very healthy ducklings!!!

My Rouen ducklings arrived on may 25th, and I must say, I was very impressed with how vigorous and healthy these 10 ducklings were! As a breeder and exhibitor of standard chickens, I know healthy fowl when I see them. They all hit the ground running, and have been growing like weeds since they arrived. One female duckling was a little smaller than the rest, and she ended up having difficulty walking a few days after arrival... most likely due to an injury. She seems very healthy, has an enormous appetite, and loves to swim. After a week, she seems to be doing a bit better. Time will tell. All in all, I'm very happy with my first order from Metzer Farms.

Angela W. | Beautiful, healthy babies!

I picked up my ducks yesterday, 1 male and 4 female. They are the absolute cutest and very healthy! Thank you!

Carrie T. | Beautiful and Sweet Duck!

We received our Willow in February. She arrived healthy, and has proved to be a very sweet and beautiful duck!!!! She quickly became my children's favorite because she reminded them of "Mrs. Mallard" who used to build a nest and hatch her babies every Spring under their playfort in our backyard (then lead her babies down to the River near our home). Our Willow is precious!!! Highly recommended!!!

Kim P. | rouen ducklings

I ordered one male and one female. They arrived strong and healthy. They are growing like weeds.

Zachary H. | Very adorable

All ducklings arrived safe and well packed. I love the personalities already showing with the rouen ducks that were part of my order. They're already taking well to being handled.

Pamela S. | Love our ducks!

We ordered three female ducklings. Sadly, one didn't make the trip, and we were refunded for the one. The other two are thriving and now fully feathered and enjoying the outdoors. We have a young Mallard drake that we were looking for companions for, and they all get along beautifully! They are lovely and friendly. We're looking to expand with a few more in the Spring and will order from Metzer.
