The CDC recently created a fantastic two-part video series on cleanliness and biosecurity procedures for keeping your coop clean and your poultry healthy. This is great informational material for new backyard poultry owners. It demonstrates how to safely care for poultry and promote a cleanly environment to prevent the spread of germs.
Last month we shared Video #1 on Coop Care. This month we are sharing the second video in this two-part series: Episode 2 is titled Chick Inn. Click on the image below to access and enjoy!

THE LOPES FAMILY FARM
INTEGRATED FARMING - RICE & DUCKS TOGETHER
“You build a more resilient food system when you have two crops together — the ducks and the rice,” Christopher Lopes says of his farming operation in Colusa County, California where he and his father, Bruce Lopes, combine a farming system that integrates ducks and rice together on the same acreage. Together the two ecosystems meet and thrive.
Bruce and Christopher Lopes are Metzer Farms customers who seem to be getting rice farming and duck rearing done right. By focusing on the age-old practice of aigamo which combines farming ducks and rice together on the same land, they are capitalizing on two crops simultaneously. It's a fascinating story of ingenuity, hard work, and thinking outside of the box.
