Speaking of eggs... Let's talk about Cayuga eggs. Cayuga eggs have an interesting progression of eggshell color. Check out the difference in Cayuga egg color across time in the photo below. A Cayuga Duck will often produce a very dark first egg and then the shade of the eggshell will lighten out in following days. Cayuga eggs will eventually become white. This is because the eggs are coated with a natural pigment that fades over time. Almost black ➡ to lighter shades of gray➡ to white. That's how it works!

HOW TO HELP YOUR DUCKLINGS AFTER TRAVEL
You have just picked your new ducklings up at the post office and you want to give them an added boost to help them make a healthy transition to their new life with you. What is the best way to help? Food and water are a must, but those first 72 hours after arrival are critical, so we thought we would share this tip with you:
In addition to providing food and water, we suggest giving your ducklings electrolytes and added protein to help support them in their early days. Electrolytes can be found in VitaMetz Waterfowl Boost. Our Waterfowl Boost is a complete package of vitamins, minerals, electrolytes, and probiotics - everything ducklings, goslings, and poultry need for nutrition and stress support. This is a fantastic option to help combat travel stress. If you do not have Waterfowl Boost on hand, electrolytes in the form of Gatorade, Pedialyte, or even diluted sugar water can be used as well.
In addition, we also suggest giving your ducklings a chopped up hard boiled chicken egg. The egg can be placed on their food for the first 1 to 2 days after they arrive home. All birds in your new flock can enjoy it. This is a great way to give them the added nourishment they need to get everybody back up to speed after travel.
